We encourage every girl to lead a healthy lifestyle as part of our commitment to student happiness and well-being. Physical Education (PE) lessons and extra-curricular sports are a popular and important part of Sixth Form life.
Reframing Sport a 2019 research report from UK charity, Women in Sport highlights the critical relationship between sport and self-worth, confidence and body image in young girls. The positive impact of our ‘Sport for All’ policy is evident in some of the findings of a recent student survey conducted in our Senior School to further understand how St Mary's girls experience sport:
Despite these positive findings, we are very mindful that we must continue to evolve our approach, to ensure girls continue to enjoy physical activities throughout their time at St Mary's and beyond. The key principles of Reframing Sport are now integrated with our overall approach to sport:
This approach builds on our established Sport for All policy and aims to reframe sport as something that ALL girls’ value and perceive to enhance their lives.
